[월드투데이 김나혜 기자] 지난 2일 아랍에미리트 연합국(UAE)이 건국 50주년을 맞아 성대한 기념 행사가 열렸다.
On December 2, a grand commemorative event was held to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

아랍에미리트는 중동 아라비아반도에 위치한 국가로, 지난 1971년까지는 영국의 지배를 받았다. 영국으로부터 독립하며 국가를 수립해 7개 에미리트의 연합으로 이루어진 지금의 UAE가 되었다.
The United Arab Emirates is a country located on the Middle East Arabian Peninsula and was ruled by Britain until 1971. Independent from Britain, a state was established to become the current UAE made up of seven Emirates unions.

UAE도 다른 중동 국가들처럼 석유 산업으로 부를 키워 왔으며, 현재는 중동에서 정치적, 경제적으로 가장 강력한 힘을 행사하는 국가들 중 하나다. 최대 도시인 두바이는 무역과 금융의 중심지기도 하다.
Like other Middle Eastern countries, the UAE has grown wealth through the oil industry, and is now one of the most politically and economically powerful countries in the Middle East. Dubai, the largest city, is also the center of trade and finance.

올해는 UAE 건국 50주년이 되는 해이고, 매년 12월 2일이 건국기념일에 해당한다. 올해는 뜻깊은 햇수를 맞이하여 여러 행사로 건국기념일을 축하했다.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE, and December 2nd is the anniversary every year. This year, in celebration of the meaningful year, various events were held to celebrate the founding anniversary.

현재 두바이에서는 건국 50주년을 기념하는 '두바이 엑스포 2020'이 진행 중이다. 엑스포에 여러 국가들의 전시관이 설치되어 사람들이 관람할 수 있게 했다. 건국기념일 당일에는 세계 박람회의 입장료가 무료기도 했다.
Currently, Dubai Expo 2020 is underway to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its foundation. Exhibition halls from various countries were installed at the expo so that people could see them. Entry to the world fair was also free on the day of the founding anniversary.

지난 2일 건국 50주년 행사도 이 엑스포에서 진행됐다. 행사에서 많은 사람들이 거리를 행진하는 퍼레이드에 참여해 국기를 펄럭였다.
The 50th anniversary event was also held at the expo on December 2. At the event, many people participated in a parade marching down the street and flapping the flag.

행사에서는 다양한 공연도 열렸다. 곡예비행 시범단이 상공을 날며 UAE 국기를 그려냈다. 또, 춤과 노래 등 문화 공연도 진행됐다.
Various performances were also held at the event. Members of aerobatics demonstration team flew over the sky and drew the UAE flag. In addition, cultural performances such as dance and singing were held.
