[월드투데이 김나혜 기자] 예멘 내전으로 군사 충돌이 지속되며 주민들이 인도주의적 위기를 겪고 있다.
As military conflicts continue due to the Yemeni civil war, residents are experiencing humanitarian crisises.

예멘은 지난 2014년 반군인 후티의 공격으로 폭력에 시달렸다. 반군은 국제적으로 공인된 예멘 정부를 수도인 사나에서 축출한 뒤 다시 사우디아라비아로 축출했다.
Yemen suffered from violence in 2014 in the attack of rebel Houthis. The rebels ousted the internationally recognized Yemeni government from the capital, Sana, and then ousted it back to Saudi Arabia.

이듬해에는 미국의 지원을 받는 사우디아라비아 주도의 연합군이 예멘 정부를 복귀시키기 위해 개입했다. 그러자 에멘에서는 반군과 연합군 간에 전쟁이 벌어졌다.
The following year, a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States intervened to restore the Yemeni government. Then warfare broke out between the rebels and the allied forces.

지금 현재도 반군과 정부군 간 격렬한 전투가 이어지고 있다. 반군은 북부의 마리브 시에 공격을 집중하고 있으며, 정부군은 남부에서 반군으로부터 3개 지역을 탈환하기도 했다.
Even now, fierce battles between rebels and government forces continue. The rebels are focusing their attacks on the northern city of Marib, and government forces have recaptured three areas from the rebels in the south.

이러한 내전의 상황 속에서 예멘 주민들은 기아, 빈곤 등 인도주의적 위기에 빠져 있다. 식량과 의약품의 부족은 수백만 명에게 고통을 주었고, 많은 사람들이 굶주리게 되었다.
In the midst of the civil war, Yemeni residents are in humanitarian crises such as hunger and poverty. Lack of food and medicine has caused millions of people to suffer, and many have become hungry.

이들을 돕기 위해 UN 등 국제단체들이 나서고 있다. 일부 주민들은 국내 실향민들을 위한 캠프에서 지내며 음식과 물 등을 지원받기도 한다.
International organizations such as the United Nations are working to help them. Some residents stay in camps for internally displaced persons(IDPs) and receive food and water support.

그렇지만 충분한 지원을 위한 자금이 부족한 상황이다. 예멘 인구 3천만 명 중 2천4백만 명이 즉각적인 인도주의적 지원이 필요함에도, 자금 부족으로 인해 구호 프로그램이 중단됐다.
However, there is a lack of funds for sufficient support. The relief program was suspended due to a lack of funds, even though 24 million out of 30 million Yemen population needed immediate humanitarian aid.

전쟁이 계속되며 주민들의 기아, 빈곤 피해가 지속될 것으로 보인다. 예멘 주민들을 돕기 위해 각국 정부와 개인들의 관심이 필요할 것이다.
As the war continues, residents are expected to continue suffering from hunger and poverty. The attention of governments and individuals from all over the world will be needed to help Yemeni residents.
