[월드투데이 김나혜 기자] 지난 13일(현지 시간) 미국 뉴욕에서 패션계 최대 행사인 '멧 갈라(Met gala)'가 열렸다.
Met gala, the largest fashion event in the U.S., was held in New York, on September 13, 2021(local time).

멧 갈라는 안나 윈투어의 총괄 아래 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 미술관의 '의상 연구소(Costume Institute)'가 개최하는 행사다. 의상 연구소에서는 매년 5월 주제 전시를 연다.
Met gala is an event hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute under the supervision of Anna Wintour. The Costume Institute holds a theme exhibition every May.

올해 의상 연구소의 전시는 첫 2부 전시로, 1부인 '인 아메리카: 패션 렉시콘'은 오는 18일에 공개되며 2부인 '인 아메리카: 패션의 선집'은 오는 2022년 5월 5일에 공개된다. 두 전시는 모두 오는 2022년 9월 5일에 종료된다.
The first part of this year's exhibition "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," opens on September 18, and the second part, "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," opens on May 5, 2022. Both are planned to conclude on September 5, 2022.

전시 이전에 미술관 기금 마련을 위해 여는 행사가 바로 멧 갈라다. 멧 갈라는 패션계에서 가장 권위 있는 행사 중 하나이다. 디자이너들에게는 멧 갈라에서 누구에게 자신의 의상을 입힐지가 중요한 이슈이기도 하다.
Metgala is an event held to raise funds before the exhibition. It is considered one of the most prestigious events in the fashion world. For designers, who is going to dress their costume is also an important issue.

멧 갈라는 지난 2020년에는 코로나19 사태로 취소되었다. 올해도 코로나19로 인해 연기되어, 매년 5월 첫째 주 월요일에 개최되는 원래 일정과는 달리 9월에 열리게 되었다. 
Metgala was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This year, it was postponed due to COVID-19, and unlike the original schedule held on the first Monday of May every year, it was held in September.

멧 갈라에서는 매년 다른 드레스 코드를 선정하여 유명 셀럽들을 대거 초청한다. 이번 멧 갈라에서도 킴 카다시안, 빌리 아일리시, 켄달 제너, 메간 폭스 등 유명 인사들이 레드카펫에 섰다.
Met Gala selects different dress codes every year and invites a large number of famous celebrities. This year, famous celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Billie Eilish, Kendall Jenner and Megan Fox attended the event.

한편, 몇몇 한국 연예인들도 이번 멧 갈라에 참석한다. CL, 로제 등이 멧 갈라에 참석하는 것으로 알려졌다.
Some Korean celebrities are also attending Met gala. CL and Rose are expected to attend the show.
