[월드투데이 안신희 기자] 우크라이나에서 민간인 학살을 저지른 러시아가 유엔 인권이사회에서 자격 정지를 당했다. 

Russia has been suspended by the UN Human Rights Council for the murder of civilians in Ukraine.

지난 7일 미국 뉴욕 유엔 본부에서는 러시아의 우크라이나 침공에 관한 유엔 총회 긴급특별회의가 열렸다.

마틴 그리피스 유엔 인도주의 구호담당 사무부총장은 우크라이나 수도 키예프 외곽의 부차 마을을 방문하여, 러시아가 철수하면 우크라이나인들이 세인트 앤드류 교회 근처에 파놓은 대규모 묘지를 포함하여 민간인 사망 사건을 조사할 것이라고 전했다.

우크라이나 부차와 키예프 주변 도시들에서 나타난 민간인 살해의 증거가 세계를 충격에 빠뜨렸고, 러시아에 대한 새로운 제재를 촉구했다. 러시아 대통령은 우크라이나 당국이 부차에서 "잔인하고 냉소적인 도발"을 했다고 비난하며, 민간인 사망에 대한 책임을 부인한 바 있다.

Evidence of civilian killings in Bucha and other towns around Kyiv - which Ukraine has blamed on Russian troops, allegations denied by Moscow - have shocked the world and triggered calls for new sanctions on Moscow. Russia's President has denied any responsibility for civilian deaths, accusing Ukrainian authorities of "crude and cynical provocations" in Bucha. 

폴란드와 우크라이나 국경에 위치한 마을 메디카에 휠체어가 준비되어 있다. 유엔에서는 430만 명이 넘는 우크라이나인이 러시아 침공 이후 본국을 떠났다고 발표했다. 유엔난민기구(UNHCR)는 2월 24일 전쟁이 시작된 이후 4,319,494명의 우크라이나인이 국경을 넘어 탈출했다고 밝혔다.

한편 앞선 4일, 린다 토마스 그린필드 유엔 주재 미국 대사는 루마니아 부쿠레슈티에서 워싱턴이 러시아의 유엔 인권이사회 탈퇴를 추진할 것이라고 발표한 바 있다.

또한 지난 5일, 볼로디미르 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령이 뉴욕시에서 열린 유엔 안전보장이사회 회의에서 연설하기도 했다. 그는 어린이를 포함한 시체들의 참혹한 비디오를 보여주며 러시아 잔학 행위의 희생자라고 밝혔다.
