[월드투데이 안신희 기자] 세계 각국이 인플레이션으로 몸살을 앓고 있다.

Countries around the world are suffering from inflation.

지난 13일, 아르헨티나 부에노스아이레스 대통령궁 앞에서 인플레이션과 일자리 부족에 대해 국가 지원 확대를 요구하는 시위가 열렸다.

시위에 쓰인 팻말에는 "인플레이션이 임금을 최대 20%까지 낮추고 있다"와 "식품 가격이 인플레이션을 주도한다"와 같은 문구가 쓰여 있다.

영국 소비자 물가는 지난 달 가정용 에너지 및 자동차 연료의 치솟는 가격에 힘입어 30년 만에 가장 빠른 속도로 상승했다. 지난 13일, 통계청은 인플레이션이 3월까지 12개월 동안 7%까지 가속화됐다고 보고했다.

페루에서는 치솟는 식품 가격으로 인해, 저소득층 주민들이 동물성 단백질을 섭취할 수 없게 되었다.  지난 11일, 페루 수도 외곽의 저소득 지역인 팜플로나 알타에서 주민들이 급식소 관련 정부 지원을 요구하며 항의하고 있다.

인플레이션을 억제하기 위해 칠레 은행은 금리 인상 정책을 시행하고 있다. 가브리엘 보릭 정부는 37억 달러의 경제 재활성화 계획을 시작하여, 50만 개의 새로운 일자리를 창출하고 대중 교통 요금을 동결하는 등의 조치를 취했다.

Chile registered an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 1.9% in March compared to the previous month, the largest monthly increase since October 1993. To contain inflation, the Bank of Chile is carrying out an aggressive policy to raise interest rates. The government of leftist Gabriel Boric launched an economic reactivation plan for 3.7 billion dollars, seeking to create 500,000 new jobs and freezing the price of public transport, among other measures. 

지난 12일 노동부에 따르면 미국 인플레이션율은 3월에 8.5%로 상승하여 40년 만에 가장 높은 비율을 기록했다. 식품 및 가스 가격 인상으로 인플레이션 수치가 사상 최고치를 달성한 것이다.

According to the Labor Department, the US inflation rate rose to 8.5 percent in March, the highest rate in 40 years. Increasing prices for food and gas helped lead inflation numbers to a record high. 

전쟁으로 황폐해진 예멘은 심각한 식품 가격 급등과 식량 불안정을 겪어왔다. 러시아의 우크라이나 침공뿐만 아니라 7년 동안 이어진 분쟁 때문이다. 가난한 아랍 국가는 우크라이나에서 수입되는 밀의 30% 이상과 러시아에서 수입되는 최소 8%를 포함하여 전체 식량 공급의 거의 90%를 수입한다. 유엔은 3천만 명 이상의 예멘인이 2022년에 심각한 식량 불안정을 경험하고 약 16만 명이 기근을 겪을 것이라고 경고한 바 있다.

War-ravaged Yemen is experiencing a significant food price spike and food insecurity because of seven years of prolonged conflict, as well as the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The impoverished Arab country imports almost 90 percent of its overall food supply, including over 30 percent of wheat imports coming from Ukraine and at least eight percent from Russia. The United Nations has warned that over 17.4 million Yemenis out of the country's 30-million population experience severe food insecurity and around 161,000 people are likely to experience famine in 2022. 

지난 9일, 중앙통계청(KSH)에서 헝가리의 연간 인플레이션은 3월에 8.5%로 2월의 8.3%와 15년 만에 최고치를 기록했다고 밝혔다.

Hungary's annual inflation was 8.5 percent in March, up from 8.3 percent in February and the highest in 15 years, the country's Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday.
