Abnormal climatic phenomena are occurring throughout the world.
Naturally occurring warming of the sea off Chile's coast, which blocks storms from arriving, has been intensified by rising global sea temperature, according to a global study on sea temperature and rainfall deficits.
Spain was today already in the grips of a heatwave expected to reach extreme levels, and France is bracing for one, too, as meteorologists blame the unusually high seasonal temperatures on global warming.
Spain, France and other western European nations sweltered under a blistering June heatwave, with some wildfires still blazing even as the weather began to ease. The soaring temperatures were in line with scientists' predictions that such phenomena will now strike earlier in the year thanks to global warming.
A photograph shows the Punta Rocca glacier that collapsed near Canazei, on the mountain of Marmolada, after a record-high temperature of 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) was recorded at the glacier's summit, on July 6, 2022. The deadly collapse of an Italian glacier, causing an avalanche which killed at least seven people, is linked to climate change, Italy's Prime Minister Mario Draghi said on July 5, 2022.
This aerial picture taken on June 10, 2022, shows Passu glacier near Passu village in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region. - Pakistan is home to more than 7,000 glaciers, more than anywhere else on Earth outside the poles. Rising global temperatures linked to climate change are causing the glaciers to rapidly melt, creating thousands of glacial lakes.
