[월드투데이 김나혜 기자] UN 안전보장이사회가 지난 15일 일어난 아프가니스탄 칸다하르 모스크 테러 공격에 대한 성명을 발표했다.
The UN Security Council issued a statement on the terrorist attack against a mosque in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on October 15.

지난 15일(현지 시간) 아프가니스탄 칸다하르의 한 시아파 모스크에서 자폭 테러가 발생했다. 총 네 명의 테러범이 연쇄 폭발을 발생시켜 큰 피해를 입혔다.
A suicide bombing occurred at a Shiite mosque in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on October 15. A total of four terrorists caused a series of explosions, causing significant damage.

칸다하르는 탈레반의 '정신적 고향'이라고도 불리는 지역이다. 이번 테러는 지난주 쿤두즈 모스크 테러를 포함한 최근 아프가니스탄의 여러 종교 시설 테러에도 뒤이은 것이다.
Kandahar is also called the Taliban's 'spiritual home.' The attack also follows several other recent attacks against religious institutions in Afghanistan, including last week’s attack against a mosque in Kunduz.

이슬람 신도들에게 중요한 금요 예배 때문에 이날 많은 사람들이 모스크에 모인 상태였다. 테러로 인해 30명 이상이 사망하고 50명 이상이 부상을 입었다.
Many people gathered at the mosque that day because of Friday worship, which was important to Muslims. The attack resulted in more than 30 people killed and more than 50 injured.

이 참혹한 테러에 대해 UN 안보리는 강한 비판을 표했다. 희생자들의 가족에게 깊은 연민과 애도를 표했고, 부상자들의 신속하고 완전한 회복을 소망했다. 그러면서 모든 종류의 테러 및 그 징후가 국제적 평화와 안전의 가장 심각한 위협 중 하나라는 것을 재차 확인했다.
The UN Security Council expressed strong criticism of this terrible terror. The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, and they wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured. They reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.

테러 행위에 책임이 있는 가해자, 가해 단체, 자본가들을 붙잡아 정의를 구현해야 함을 강조하기도 했다. 이를 위해 모든 국가들이 국제법상의 의무 및 관련 안보리 결의안에 따라 관계당국에 적극적으로 협조할 것을 촉구했다.
The members of the Security Council underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice.  They urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard.

안보리 회원들은 테러 행위가 범죄이며 언제든, 어디서든, 누가 저질렀든, 그리고 그 동기와 관계없이 정당화될 수 없다는 것을 반복하여 말했다. 모든 국가들은 기필코 테러 행위와 싸울 필요가 있다고 재확인했다.
The members of the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed. They reaffirmed the need for all States to combat by all means.
